A Message (Part 1)
I was suspended, supine, in a disc of energy. The disc radiated a brilliant blue light. It snapped and crackled, sending sparks cascading across my body and into the darkness beneath me. I rested here, gazing into infinite black empty space. A thousand years passed, and a flat digital tapestry replaced the darkness in front of me. This tapestry extended forever, up and down, left and right.
It was made of individual square-shaped cells, each containing an object or landscape or entity, with which I engaged one at a time. Some entities communicated with me and some ignored me. Some objects were beautiful and some were horrifying. There were flower petals and globs of flesh and barren deserts and frantic alien creatures and piles of bodies and angels and galaxies. I could stay with each one for as long as I chose.
The tapestry began to fade, and before it disappeared a being passed through it from behind, filling my field of vision. I won’t try to describe its physical characteristics because I can’t.
The disc that was holding me in place rotated on its axis, standing me up vertically so that I was face to face with the being. I felt a familiar fear take hold of my throat. The being began to speak to me in a voice that wasn’t mine, using language I wouldn’t use. It addressed me by my full name, and told me that it had an important message for me. It told me that the message would alter the course of my life, and asked if it had my permission to share. I said “yes”. The fear gripped tighter…
