A Message (Part 2)

A powerful being began to communicate a message to me while we floated, alone together, in boundless dark silence. The message was  communicated slowly, precisely, clearly. There was no speaking, only pure understanding poured directly into me. I watched my form fill with the glistening, brilliant truth of love.  As the message filled my being, it replaced the fear that had gotten ahold of me long ago. I felt generations of pain and terror drain from my family. It was a remembering. A recollection of a state we inhabited before the fear, many ancestors ago.

The entity then began to speak. It’s words transforming into a physical object, piece by piece, in the space directly in front of my vision.  The disk of energy that supported my body hummed with truth.  Overcome by an urge to share the message right then and there, I reached out, across a a barely-there veil, into a drawer, and grabbed my cell phone. I needed the other to hear the message. I found her name in my recent calls and placed my thumb on it. The phone screen powered down around my thumb and went blank. The loving energy pour back out of me, replaced by sickening panic. In the confusion, a countdown boomed loudly in my ears. 3...2…1…BANG! The phone exploded in my hand like a grenade, sending a ring of shrapnel into the walls of the room around me. My ears rang. Through the dust and smoke, I could see a bloody stump of an arm.  The disk of loving energy that had been holding me in place turned, all at once, into 9 swords piercing through my torso. The shock of intense pain left me gasping for breath. I was completely alone. More alone than ever before. Cut off from love, all my fears were realized in an instant. I knew I was grotesque, selfish, sick, unlovable.

Someone, who must have heard my groaning, came into the room. I tried, over a vast distance, to explain about the explosion and the swords. After a puzzled smile they walked even further away. Pathetically, I begged for non-existence, too incapacitated by pain to seek it. In the terror of stillness, I heard her voice coming through the phone. I picked it up and held it close to my head. With no words left to speak, I listened. Her voice sounded exactly like that of the powerful entity with whom I had been communicating. She had the same message of love and acceptance. For the first time in my life, I started to believe what she was saying. I felt the truth of her words once again begin to dissolve the agony.

The swords inched their way back out of my torso and I found myself once again in a bed.
